About the project

SENDIASS have asked for Children and Young People (CYP) with SEND to decorate a Christmas tree to go in the annual Worcester Cathedral Tree Festival. See more about the festival here:

Last year they made a tree called 'Positivi-tree' and they used sensory items as decorations, linking to the needs of people with additional needs.

Outputs

What we are doing and what have we done:

  • the deadline for the tree to be placed in the Cathedral is 1 December, so the meetings will happen in October and November

Outcomes

The difference this makes to CYP:

  • CYP with SEND co-design a tree that represents them
  • CYP building confidence in this project with the intention to involve them in more projects moving forward

Impact

The difference this makes to policies, services and workforce:

  • greater relationships and connections with CYP to take part in future projects to inform decisions in services
  • empowering CYP to use their voice and express their thoughts and views

Making a difference

How we will know we are making a difference: 

  • finished product of a Christmas tree that has been co-designed by CYP and will be viewed by a high footfall of people

We are hoping this tree sparks more interest in the forum therefore expanding the reach of CYP we are connected with.
